I like to see that 'weapon' of yours around sandy beaches and desert with the wind blowing. :)

Kidding of course, very nice set up!

And good riddance to that idiotic "protection" thread!

Thanks Jay. I like your kind of weapon best too.
If I remember correctly there is a chaff forum for the other stuff.

It’s too late, Franco. The other side in this country is already reacting to the threat. Just wait ’til your ‘Roos read those posts.

Jay- did you have to take a course in order to be able to carry that thing concealed?

I'm with you on this one. People can start up a firearms s***storm thread on any website they want. …And it ALWAYS turns into a s***storm for this subject.

Nathan that was a Dancing Light Gear – TarpTent.
One can never have enough shelter options. I am still not sure what to bring to Henry Coe? Tarp or Tarptent it all depends on the weather..

Jay & all going to Coe,

I will probably bring my MLD predecessor to the Serenity {it's a bit smaller & lighter, a bit less roomy & has a silnylon footbox) along with my BPL nano-0 (cuben) tarp

lots of bugs at coe, including tons and tons of ticks! one of the few places i'd not consider going without full bug protection

helix

His name is HeLicks as he is quite capable of licking anyone to death if they even attempt to apporoach me. And he is SUL as I don't have to carry him (just a bit of food), and he will do this even to bears, but prefers humans, cats, bunnies and dogs. He needs regular maintenance to work well, but works even when drenched. I am fully licenced and trained in his use, and don't have to carry him concealed, except in a few restricted areas where he is strictly forbidden.

Everest

His name is Everest; this is him at ~7 weeks old. He's 10 weeks old now and cuter than ever.

"Bunch of metrosexuals thinking cute and beautiful will protect them. Hah!"

Maybe not protect, but my 21 year old son loves to take the doggie into town as he reckons it's a major babe-magnet. Make love, not war ;)

Wow Bob,

Now that rodent has a true UL pistol…

Where do we get them? And do you know a good plastic surgeon for the finger reduction needed to shoot it? Or do you just bring the gopher along too?

:-D

Too many options in my gear garage….

Lighten up Dave,

Did anybody seem serious to you? We are all having a laugh at the downside of that post.

But if you want you can shoot me…

Jay, is that the same tarp as the one in your first post?

I agree with the other Dave. BPL seems a shadow of its former self. Except for Roger's stove articles anyway.

No, its a GG SpinnTwinn that has a lot more weather coverage–I think a better option in Sierras. The BPL tarp has smaller footprint which is also better option at times—Oh which should I pick??

PostedMar 18, 2009 at 9:06 pm

With that small a tarp I would be worried about getting wet in a rainstorm without the protection of a bivy,

Film of Jay’s “killer cat” after almost being run down by a group of mountain bikers on the PCT.
