Now I wonder if the Kiwis are also giving their navy two months off?

Hard to imagine our country giving our military a long vacation — what with having to defend freedom and democracy all around the world… and with so many hating us because we are free! :)

They're currently making a special edition of Marmite with Champagne. I'm not making this up. You can even buy silver – real silver! – lids to replace the standard yellow plastic ones. It's serious stuff in the Popular Yeast Extract world.

Except for Vegemite, which is clearly a joke… ;)

The only Italian beer you can get around here is the Peroni and that stuff isn't suitable for junior high kids. As for the Vegemite, all I know is I can't get it here in Illinois. I have tried about 7 different places within an hour and they all said they can't get it in due to some sort of ban. Marmite is easy enough to get though.

Am I hallucinating or when I was a kid didn't they color up the Vegemite into different primary and secondary colors to appeal to the kids?

Oddly enough alot of the auzzies around here have started putting the Vegemite on garlic bread when they eat spaghetti.

Wipe your mouth out with soap. As far as I know, Vegemite is owned by Kraft, which is technically a US owned multi-national.

Vegemite is indeed made by Kraft foods and only a few hundred meters away from my house so on a bad day I know if they make cheese like products or salt with added vitamin B12.
Here are some factoids that may or may not be true.
Vegemite was the result of a failed experiment by a local scientist trying to come up with a better rubber sole than Vibram. The Italian community here sabotaged the project but as noted some now end up eating the foul stuff with pasta. (bad Karma ?)

Allison rest assured that we are not about to come over there in mass, but thanks for the laugh. Now if those Kiwis over here would get off the dole and do some work, that would be progress.

Yeah, it wouldn't hurt if they got off the dole here either! Then again, sometimes I am tempted to just quit work and go on the dole so I could have more spare time to MYOG UL gear ;) Maybe I should come to Oz!!
