cool site if you like to peruse trail journals of past and present thru hikers on distance trails.

Aug 12, 2008 at 3:02 pm #1446811Al Gore invented this thing called the web browser for his intarweb. Once you find one that works, try "gis appalachian trail" or something that applies to your specific location of interest. There are lots of results for the example posted.
