Superfeet!

A search of the forums using the word superfeet will give you a long list of responses which may be useful to you, however, I am not sure if you find any information about goretex in them.

With regard to goretex and superfeet, are you talking about goretex lined boots or goretex socks or ??

the only issue I am aware of is in regard to the black "dress" superfeet which have cleats to grip into slick leather found in dress shoes. These cleats can tear into the wpb lining inside shoes.

Thank you for the responses. I did search the forum a bit, but like you said, there wasn't much information regarding goretex. I have a pair of Vasque Summit boots that are Goretex lined, and on the superfeet website they have a disclaimer on Gore-tex.

From the superfeet website:
"Gore-tex® Disclaimer

Most orthotic devices will conform to the heel shape of all types of footwear, and over time imbed itself into the lining of the footwear. Superfeet offers no guarantee against this resulting side effect in Gore-tex® lined footwear."

They are mysteriously unclear about the side effect, and this is what my main concern is before I go out and buy a pair of the soles. Will this harm the Gore-tex? Proving it ineffective or what exactly does it do towards the Gore-tex?

I suspect the disclaimer is related to the possible damage of the goretex membrane when the superfeet "embed" themselves in the boots and as consequence allow moisture into the boot.

Personally I try to avoid goretex lined boots/shoes becuase my feet tend to over heat in them.

As they say your mileage may vary and I suspect Superfeet are trying to protect themselves from possible litigation.

For what it's worth, I wear green superfeet in my Goretex winter shoes with no sign of a problem.

Superfeet recommends that you use an insole 1 size smaller than usual in goretex lined shoes so that the insole does not cut the lining. Beware of sharp edge insoles with any lined shoe or boot.

I've contacted Superfeet on this and did quite a bit of research myself on the matter. What I've found is that the BLUE and BLACK should not be worn in Gore-tex boots. The Green are OK. Now…you can probably get away with wearing the blue/black but Superfeet won't be held liable. So, yes, they are rather vague in addressing this issue. One thing they did mention is that you can buy something called a "five-iron" that can be used to go underneath the Superfeet adn prevent abrasive damage to the Gore-tex lining.
