There seems to be a perception that windshirts are inherently fragile. However ever time I see someone write this, it seems to be followed by "I haven't torn mine yet"
I got burned by a Marmot Ion plastic bag special, so don't have a lot of experience, but I saw a throw away comment from Dale the other day, that button up shirts no longer have a place. I wear a longsleeved polyester/nylon (61/39) buttoned shirt on every trip. I can't tear it. When I'm off trail, I can drop my shoulder and charge through the thickest, spikiest scrub I can find, and still barely scratch my skin underneath. The worst it ever gets is a few pulled threads. But it weighs 260gm, more than a Houdini AND a Litespeed together.
So the question is, Have you ever torn a windshirt? If so, what were you doing at the time? Feel free to tell us what model shirt it was.
If you haven't ever torn one, what's the most abusive treatment it's stood up to.
