Hi Cary,

I'd love to hear more about it after you've had a chance to use it. I've been eyeing that pack for awhile!

Glad to hear the positive report-

I ordered a 2800 cu in pack from Joe several months ago ….

It didn't work out for me and Joe cheerfully took the pack back and refunded my money. He was just as happy to customize a pack to my needs if I had wanted him to.

The pack was a work of art …. and the material looked to me like it would be very tough.

I would highly recommend Joe's products .. fast shipping, great customer service, and a great product.

I have had the Z1 about a year now. I love this pack. It is extremely comfortably with 20lbs. I has held up well and it is my go to pack for almost every trip except very cold weather. The workmanship is superb.

although he doesnt advertise them on his site, Joe has made custom products in the past. A 12 ounce tarp-tent, a cuben tarp or two, and for me he had a 1600 inch Blast. Joe has done some nice work, and I like his packs. The Blast 16 looks like it is made with 1oz cuben… a bit heavier than you would want for a tarp, but works well on a pack. Ive taken it thru some gnarly catsclaw here in AZ and it shows some wear, but is pretty dang tough considering. Also, he wont charge you $10 to ship a 4 oz item. I have used the Blast 16 with overnight base loads as light as 3lb, 4oz. and it. is. heavenly.

I recently received the blast 26 and it really is an awesome pack, and he made me some custom hipbelt pockets for them, (i found the back pocket a little hard to access when i do the compression cords, but the hip belt pockets solve storage problems) I havent gone on any overnights with it, but hike about 20+ miles a week with it and nothing but praise, i plan on hiking 1000 miles this summer (leaving in 2 weeks :D) and will post back when i return.
mike!
