Im getting tired of waiting on some Titanium Goat adjustable carbon fiber poles. Are there any more out there that weigh about 3.2 ounces each?

You should keep on waiting for the TiGoat poles. I emailed the guys about a week ago, and they said that they should be getting the poles sometime in early feb.

As far as I know, there are no other manufacturers of adjustable carbon fiber poles, which is why I went for the AGP's. If you want to wait a few more months (i don't think you do), Gossamer Gear plans to release some.

Well, there is of course the Komperdell C3 Duolock, also sold as the REI Peak UL series. These are about twice as heavy as the goats at 6.1 oz / pole, but are a traditional style pole, so cutting off the wriststrap might save ya an oz. or two.

Thought Komperdell made some adjustable carbon fiber poles.

I use the Komperdell C3's women's pole which clocks in at 5 oz per pole without strap. Ok for up to 125 cm, maybe 130.

Titanium Goat AGP

Be patient. You'll be glad you waited. The AGP are ultra light and perform exceptionally well. Also, Titanium Goat has fantastic customer service.

I waited months last spring for the first TG adjustable poles to finally arrive. It was worth the wait. I now loan out my other poles, but the TiGoat poles stay with me.

Beware the REI Peak UL poles. Mine slip, especially in cold weather. And I have to fiddle with them frequently when trying to get them to lock, the mechanism just doesn't work well.

Thanks for all the great advice guys, I guess I will suck it up and wait on the Ti Goat poles. It seems like they are the lightest option for now and they get good reviews.

My TiGoat AGP just came today. They are very light and appear very strong. I can't wait until I can try them out on the trail.

Without baskets, 6.6 ounces on my scale. My soon to be dusty Leki Makalu Titanium Poles are 17 ounces.

To all who have waited for your AGPs, thank you for your patience, we are very pleased that you like them. We have yet to be able to put the poles up on the website due to high demand, several supply chain issues, and the large amount of time it takes to build them.

If you want a pair of poles, this is how people have been getting them. Email us, and state explicitly that you want to be placed on "the list" for a pair of poles. When we get a pair built for you, you will recieve an email explaining how to place your order. We have been building and shipping AGPs since last May.

Accessories: We have removeable straps, camera mounts, baskets, and maintanence kits available for the poles now. These will be available for purchase on the website in about a week.

I am also working on a fishing pole set up where you replace the lower section of an AGP with a fishing rod tip, and mount an UL reel at the handle end. This is currently for my own use, but if it works out and there is a demand for these, they will also be offered. Any feed back on this concept would be apprieciated.

Thanks again, Josh Leavitt Titanium Goat

Brett

I dont know if you have contacted us or not, but we can build an AGP that goes to 140. It may take a bit longer, and cost a few more $, but it can be done. Email me if you are interested.

Hi Josh,

I'm very interested in the fishing rod attachment for the AGPs. Do you have any pics of this or specs to share?

The pole attachment turns your AGP into a 5.5' "fly rod". The attachment weighs 3.6oz with empty reel, the reel weighs 2oz by itself. More importantly the over all bulk is greatly reduced. It doesn't seem to have much action, but I have yet to run any line through it.

if it casts half way decent I would defiantly be interested in it. maybe add another section with an eye to add a little more action if what you got doesnt work. But how you have it now would atleast work as a spinning setup. Very nice

I just received my AGPs along with their Ptarmigan bivy last week. Although I won't be able to get out and hike for another 2 weeks, both items are items of high beauty and quality. The AGPs are spectacular, and well worth the wait. I really like the options available (I haven't gotten any yet), and the fact that they supply you with a replacement internal expander, ingeniously hidden within the handle. It's amazing to finally hold a pair of carbon fiber poles and stare in amazement at the visual beauty of carbon fiber. These will serve me well on my 3,139 mi hike this summer. Now it's time to find some sort of knot to fashion that will secure a 'keeper cord' to the poles out of spectra cord. Keep waiting guys, it's so worth it.

Thanks for posting that Eric, I totally missed the part about the spare expander in the handle. I had to go back and read the instructions again. This is from someone that has a think geek RTFM mug!

I would be interested in the fishing accessory as well.

Could you also consider a bayonet attachment? I would love to use this as my Doug Johnson Trail Defense system.

FWIW –
The first time I had to access the spare expander I gave a hearty 'puff', bounced the expander out of my hand, and spent the next 30 minutes looking for a small black part in a pile of decomposed granite.(Successfully.)

Now there is short piece of thin neon pink cord going through the expander AND 2 nylon washers, knotted on each end. Much easier to see.

I just recieved my AGP's as well this week. They are definitely a thing of beauty, strength and design. Who would have thought that a simple rubber expander would be able to hold these carbon sections together so well! It truly is a design to behold. I haven't had them on anything more than walks around the neighborhood, but they are amazin so far.

The only issue I have personally, is that the grips aren't at the canted forward angle like most ergonomically designed poles. I haven't run into any problems yet other than some light rubbing in my palm. And this I am sure I will adapt to in time.

They are definitely worth the wait and price! As soon as I get them out into the field, I will post a review.

I am also looking forward to the accesories!
