I was hoping you would be mentioning other pots. Lol. I use the Olicamp with the Soto Windmaster. While it performs remarkably, I’m looking for something lighter weight if it’s out there. I have thought about using the JB Sol Aluminum companion cup with my Soto.
Thomas, I’ve got the Olicamp pot with fins ala Jetboil. What are your thoughts about this combo? Looking over the Soto Windmaster, the burner seems much closer to the pot support fins, and conversely, the bottom of the pot than with most other canister stoves. Has this given any problems?

I really like this combo because my fuel usage is minimal and it boils water very fast.  The only downfall is the weight penalty.  I’m not scientific enough to know if the CO emission is worse or not with the distance of the stove to pot, however, the flame pattern looks and feels just right.

Here is a quick vid I did with this combo boiling 1 cup and 2 cups of water and you can kind of see the flame pattern under the pot.

does the mug leave a metallic taste from the aluminum?

No, but hot coffee in any metal mug can leave a permanent impression on your lips.

Cheers

Thanks Thomas, great video. Somehow I had it in my head the stove fins fit inside the flux rings. I see they sit on top of the flux ring, hence giving distance to the pot bottom.

Thanks.
