You should love the San Juans. One reason I went with the CDT/Creede route two summers ago was travel logistics. The way the trail wraps around Creede makes the trailhead to trailhead distance pretty reasonable, even hitch-able. And to add to the sales pitch, here is an excerpt from Andrew Skurka’s top ten hikes:
“This next section is absolutely phenomenal: you will be walking consistently at 11,000 to 12,000 feet (3,353 to 3,658 meters), usually right on top of the grassy, well-defined Continental Divide, which separates the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean watersheds.”
