You should love the San Juans. One reason I went with the CDT/Creede route two summers ago was travel logistics. The way the trail wraps around Creede makes the trailhead to trailhead distance pretty reasonable, even hitch-able. And to add to the sales pitch, here is an excerpt from Andrew Skurka’s top ten hikes:
