Beautiful, Jen. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice!
Those are lovely. Looks like you had some nice and not so nice weather.
Oh… The link takes me to a generic Smugmug page ??? CT 2013 :-D
does it not go to my backpackerPT page? click the BROWSE button to see the galleries….
Wonderful pictures Jen! I've been curious about this trail for years; have never been. Quite different from the west coast mountains of California and Washington that I'm familiar with–but correct me if I'm wrong. The picture of you in the rain skirt suddenly made this piece of equipment make sense to me. I know that you had lots of rain. So the new jacket held up and your tent held up, it seems. Any written impressions?
Love those smiles, Jen! Looks like a great trip. Thanks for sharing with us.
Awesome pictures and looks like you had a great trip. I have a question for you.. Doesn't it freaking hurt like hell when u lose a toe nail??? OMG!! Really..I couldn't imagine the agony and pain. How do u walk? If I cut my toe nail too short it ruins my next 2 or 3 days, lol.
This are very well done. Beautiful
Sorry – I was being incredibly dumb… This seems to happen a lot :-D Great pics – takes me back to my trip there; fine times.
Jen – Did you also do the JMT last year?
I've lost or discolored big-toe nails and happily discovered it to be no big deal. Mole foam and leuko tape; done.
The pic of the train coming up with smoke billowing is terrific! Ryan
Yes, I did the JMT in each of the past two years. And no, losing toenails doesn't really hurt all that much. I lose them all the time, and while to lose the entire great toe toenail made my toe a little sensitive, a nice big hydrocolloid bandage over the top works just fine (and stays in place way better than moleskin! – IMHO) Thanks for the kind words about my pics! i really like taking pictures, and one of these days I'll actually get a good mirrorless or DSLR or something and dive into another expensive gear-centric hobby. ARGH!
Good to know about that hydrocolloid thanks. :-/
Beautiful and inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing Jen!
I'm digging the photos; nice work!
Very nice pics Jen. Thank you for sharing. billy
Super picts Jen! These and JMT. Maybe you should pick the best 5 – 10 and post at the top. In case you don't know how to do it (the easy way): Go down to the share icon in an image in Smugmug, select "get a link", select image size you want a link for (medium works well here), and paste into block below: <img src="your_image_url_here" />
N/A I was wrong. Thanks Charlie for that tip.
Terrific photos, Jen. Definitely makes me homesick for the trail. Judging from the snow and the flowers you were just a few days behind me, enjoying the same "interesting" weather.
Hey Jen! Â What time of year did you do the trail? Â And also what was your favorite section? Â Thinking about doing a week or 5 days the end of this summer.
While you are waiting to hear from Jen, a lot of hikers seem to find the west side of the Collegiates and the San Juans their favorite sections. If you get down to the San Juans one possibility is to do a loop around Creede on the CDT, picking up the CT along the way. This may be a longer stretch than you are looking for but is absolutely killer backpacking. Wolf Creek pass to rt 149, Lake City – Creede, is about 115 miles, to the trailhead for San Luis pass closer to 140
Awesome Thanks George! Â God info!
I think I’m definitely shooting for the San Juans. Â So far I have heard, Salida to Durango, or for shorter Salida to Silverton.
