In the past six months I've acquired both a RAB Summit Extreme and a Black Diamond Lighthouse. I haven't used either yet, I don't need both, so I intend to sell one and keep the other for winter camping in New York and Vermont (below timberline). The tent will only be used for solo winter camping as for the other seasons my Double Rainbow works quite well.
The Lighthouse is about 6 inches longer that the Extreme, not to mention about 12 inches taller and a pound lighter–
But, the Extreme is certainly more weatherproof and durable, and is probably more breathable.
When I lie down in the extreme I have to choose between my hat or bottom of my bag touching the ends of the tent. A bit disconcerting but I can probably get used to it. The light weight of the lighthouse makes me a bit nervous, as I will be out in the cold solo and be depending on my shelter.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.
