So I got a brand new pair of Men's C3 Duolock trekking poles today. I paid a total of $85 to have them shipped to me.

I read the instruction and they said to NEVER extend the pole past the "stop" line.

Well, my girlfriend came home and she immediately pulled them ALL the way apart. Are my poles ruined? What happened now that they have been completely separated?

No, they're fine. As long as the locking mechanisms are not broken, you're good to go.

You'll want to take them apart every now and again for cleaning anyway…

Enjoy!

Thanks Doug! I was hoping you would chime in, being that you are the resident expert and all!

It's nice that you were the first one to respond! Thanks for easing my mind before I gave my girlfriend a hard time ;)

I would think that means don't extend it past the line and try to use the pole…not taking it apart for cleaning.

Hello All,

Just a note that I broke one of my C3’s when I fell over a log and was able to get a replacement section at http://www.albionsmo.com/. Nice folks and reasonable price.

Great thing to know Mark! I'll keep that in mind!

I'm glad to know my poles are fine. I figured they were, but just wanted to make sure!

I thought mine were toast about 6 months ago when they stopped tightening…I was set straight by the BPL members, and now I routinely pull them apart to clean them…allowing them to engage smoothly.
