Rain Pants – are they worth it?

Pick up a set of frogg toggs if you're concerned about breathability. Not the most durable, but should at least see you through the trip. Worth the very minimal price/weight penalty.

So after all, we cancelled the hike. My sister in law just went there to pick up the permits, and the first thing the ranger told her: what's your plan for getting out? She is out of town so we can't reschedule for later. So next year for us:) My final choice was to take the rain pants. They are pretty light and comfy once I walked more in them. I was going to just wear shorts and tall socks underneath. Will have plenty of time to test the set up in the local mountains during the rainy PNW season. Thank you!

I was going to do something, maybe hike around Mt Hood or something, but decided to postpone. Not as much fun when it's raining. Those streams can get really dangerous after it rains a lot. People die occasionally.
