Sage advice at the end there, Dan. The only thing I disagree with otherwise is the thought of ever turning a canoe into a campfire. Blasphemy!

Well put, Dan. That's why I put up with the crowds at national parks. Of course I don't go to the really crowded parts so much…

Enjoyed that, thanks for sharing, very inspirational to say the least.

Wish I could take your advice and follow my dreams of thru-hiking multiple trails around the world, unfortunately I can't afford the cost or be without health insurance. But that's not gonna stop me from trying to figure out a way to make it possible, after all, life is meant to be lived.
