Do you have any plans for a one-man refuge tent?

Converting a 2 man tent to a one man tent is always tricky and in my experience not too effective. Downsizing it won't have a significant impact on the weight or cost.

It'll probably use as much raw material to construct, you'll just end up with more waste. Which isn't too good for the environment. Assembly cost won't be any cheaper, so the actual cost of the tent is roughly the same for both models.

Also unless I can get a significant weight differential, say 6 to 8 ounces, most people won't see the benifits of a smaller tent.

T's true that when a tent is already featherly light, shrinking it further won't save much more weight. But it will result in a smaller footprint — which can come in handy.

Ron, I didn't see any release dates for either version. When do you think the Cuben version will be available?

I don't forcast delivery dates until I'm actually in production. The Silnylon Refuge will start shipping mid December. Cuben will be in 1st quarter of '08. But that's as narrow a window I can project. That also assumes all of our ducks are in a row.

Don't ask about pricing. I don't have it. Cuben = $$$$$ unfortunately.

Ron, thanks for the time frame, it's good to know. I understand about the $$$$ of the Cuben model. I can definitely wait for THAT news.

I'm having trouble mentally visualizing the layout of the inside of the tent after reading your statement: "In addition we use a lighter weight netting material and have eliminated the vertical mesh walls."

Are the mesh walls attached to the tarp edge at the foot/head/non entry vestibule sections? Is there still a vertical mesh wall (with zipper door) on the vestibule side that you enter the shelter? Would you be willing to post a photo of the inside of the Refuge?

I have your Lunar Duo and love it. This looks like an equally excellent (and even lighter) shelter! The addition of the mesh ventilation triangles to each vestibule will be a welcomed addition for views and ventilation.

You do know that Vaude uses the "Refuge" name for their 1 lb 13 oz ridge tent? Couldn't this create issues for you?

Yea, I discovered that after going through the painful naming process. Unfortunately there are only so many unique names and there are lots of duplicate tent and pack names between companies.

I'm not sure how much confusion it'll cause. Our tents are seldom if ever compared with Vaude. I certainly think our version is a whole lot more useful.

I don't think that anyone would confuse your products with anything from Vaude. I was just thinking back on a similar issue my family had with the naming of a business venture. Until it was proven that we used the name first, we faced cease and desist orders and it was a real hassle.

I certainly did not mean to offend, but believe me it was a real pain!
