I have a loki event jacket that I want to clean.

I was out in the rain helping my neighbor unclog her drain and I believe the dirt effected the beading of the jacket. I hand soaked in asko sport wash but it didnt help much. I was reading that for even you should use a mild detergent to clean out dirt and oils. Is there any specific detergent that you guys would recommend. Would woolite be ok? I'm assuming liquid detergents would be preferred. Also, since heat would reactivate DWR, is it ok to throw the jacket in the dryer? It seems event is a little more sensitive that gore-tex and I don't want to damage the jacket. Any help would be appreciated.

Your right, a mild detergent and a low dryer (or a steam iron if you don't have a dryer).

Take a look at Events website also.

Powdered detergent is typically preferred because it rinses out better. I've read that the detergents (sodium lauryl sulfate, etc) that typically make up liquid detergents can clog the pores of membranes, but I'm not sure if that's true? Atsko sport wash could be good, but it's probably just liquid detergent and nothing else, so if detergent cloging pores is true then maybe it's bad? I can't find any information about what it's made of except that it says biodegradable vegetable surfactants on the bottle, and I think that just means some variation on sodium lauryl sulfate. I've used Atsko sport wash extensively, but I don't have enough ptfe membrane clothing to know how it affects it. It works fine for everything else, and it's good at getting out smells, but it's not as powerful as some detergents.

I personally try to avoid anything that doesn't tell you the ingredients. And definitely try to avoid anything that might have stuff that is meant to be left behind like softeners, fragrances, optical brighteners (if it looks blue it has brighteners), etc.

Event recommends frequent cleaning since the membrane is not well protected from dirt and oils. Even a little laundry detergent residue is probably better than it being really dirty.

The dryer should be fine, but high heat could melt the seam tape off. Read the care label to be sure.

If you plan on washing your garment at home or at a laundromat, it's important to make sure that there are no harsh detergents lingering in the washing machine that can damage the DWR. For example, if you use powdered detergent at home, hand-wash the tray you put the detergent in, and run an empty load to remove any powdered detergent residue. Definitely do this in a laundromat. Powdered detergent is very tough on DWR coatings.

Machine wash on a warm permanent press cycle (105º F/40º C) using a small amount of liquid detergent or performance wash such as Granger’s® Performance Cleaner (http://grangers.co.uk/product/performance-cleaner). Rinse twice, minimize spinning to reduce creasing. Do not use soap, powder detergents or any products that contain fabric softeners, conditioners, stain removers or bleach as they will damage the membrane and void its warranty. Do not wash with heavily soiled clothing.

Line dry your garment, or tumble dry it on a warm, gentle cycle. Once it is dry, tumble dry your garment for 20 minutes to reactivate the durable water-repellent (DWR) treatment on the outer fabric.

when in doubt ask the manufacturer … or other makers who use event ..

"Cleaning event" is the sort of term my wife would use when she sees me taking the vacuum cleaner for a walk.
However I think that the fabric in question here is eVent .
