John,
Esbit for sure does have a distinct odor to it. I used it to through hike the AT in 03, and found it a good option. Most of the places I would cook, there was plenty of airflow, so the odor was not a problem. It for sure does leave a sticky type residue on your pot. I solved this by keeping it in a plastic bag before it went into the stuff sack. Once you get over these quirks, it is a good fuel.

I'm willing to try a BRS3000T, I just hate waiting for stuff to ship from China directly.

David, I'm having trouble finding one domestic, I sent you a PM attempting to buy one from you.

Thanks for your help everybody… Thanks for posting the thread Yuri.

What needs to happen is, someone produces a refillable titanium gas cartridge, along with some infrastructure for refilling the thing. Probably not going to happen …

The last ones I bought through GearBest arrived rather quickly, as I received them 11 days after I ordered them.

In response to: "we are expecting some of the national forests to again impose bans on any source of fire that has no On/Off switch or valve."

"Officer, I assure you that bottle of ethanol is for consumption purposes only. You see, after eating cold oatmeal, I like to drink my sorrows away and punch holes in catfood cans for stress relief."

Also

"Officer I had no idea congress had shut down all the national parks, you see I got here when it was still dark, and didn't see the sign."
