Yes, the 650 is a nice size: Pot(650ml) Size: 13.5 * 6cm / 5.3 * 2.4in (D * H)
Dec 20, 2018 at 6:01 am #3569542The video shows flames going up the pot sides which I feel (without a cone to conserve heat) is “wasting” heat. i.e. chimney needs to be taller, maybe by at least 1/4″. (IMHO)
Dec 24, 2018 at 12:31 pm #3569920To all true believers, Esbitmeisers and non-actualized Esbitmeiserettes, Merry Esbitmas!
Dec 24, 2018 at 1:41 pm #3569922I do believe in all things esbit related. Thank you Robert. I wish you good health and may your journey be long and inspired. Merry Esbitmas to you and to all a good night.
Dec 24, 2018 at 4:55 pm #3569947I was giving some thought to Frankinsense and Myrrh and came up with the idea to create an essential oil using esbit. It would have an apeal to certain ethnic groups that are associated with large amount of fish. It could be used in perfumery and aromatherapy. If it burned as well as solid esbit, it would be a dual purpose fuel

Dec 26, 2018 at 7:59 pm #3570146Loving the regular thread drift in “Esbit Burner Testing”. Sorta like a walk around the borders of sanity – With Robert ad out guide. ;o)
Hope everyone had a Cool Yule.
Now have a very Happy New Year. And while you’re at it PLEASE invent a hotter ESBIT tablet.
Dec 26, 2018 at 10:37 pm #3570169I may have found an alternative solid fuel to heat(not boil) 1 cup of water/coffee. Product is in the mail and due to arrive Jan 3.
Dec 26, 2018 at 11:07 pm #3570176an alternative solid fuel to heat(not boil) 1 cup of water/coffee.
It’s called Government paperwork, especially everything to do with the ATO/IRS.
We burn it when it’s >7 years old – and there is a LOT of it.Cheers
Dec 26, 2018 at 11:16 pm #3570178That’s putting it to good use :-)
The stuff I’m getting is charcoal impregnated with saltpeter/aka potasium nitrate. Suppose to be smokeless. Yes, I know what you are thinking
Dec 26, 2018 at 11:33 pm #3570179Hum … sprinkles flowers of sulphur around … :)
Cheers

Dec 31, 2018 at 11:11 pm #3570906Last stove for the year 2018. The Cuppa Tea Stove.
Solid fuel “Radical Charcoal” with Esbit assist. Charcoal burns so hot, the esbit has a hard time staying lit LOL I used esbit so I could include it in this thread
It will be paired up with an aluminum cup. It’s designed for those that live for a cuppa tea in the morning, noon and night
Dec 31, 2018 at 11:19 pm #3570908Looks about as useful as a chocolate fireguard.

Thank you Stormin!
Dec 31, 2018 at 11:29 pm #3570910Might it not be more cost-effective and fuel-effective to just use the lighter to heat the water directly?
Cheers
Dec 31, 2018 at 11:41 pm #3570912Yes….but, the esbit will be eliminated and so the charcoal is easily lit with a flick of a bic, a match or flint and steel sparks. I crammed the video in before the end of the year. The tea teetotallers of the UK will love this new stove It’s work-in-process to get the specifics on length of burn, weight and time to boil 1 cup. It will probably heat 1 cup before you can even set up a canister stove ;-)
Dec 31, 2018 at 11:50 pm #3570913I nominate the Cuppa Tea stove for the best 2019 New Year’s Day stove! Oxyacetylene torch et al.!
Jan 1, 2019 at 1:29 am #3570926Thank you Robert. I’ll send you the 1st production model
The other day I got 3 of these to play with:
Feb 7, 2019 at 4:31 am #3577287New sliding lid tin modified for esbit. Has the ability to simmer.
Weighs 8 grams. Has elongated slots on side for air entry for complete combustion.
That’s all folks.
Feb 7, 2019 at 4:33 am #3577288Bravo!
Feb 7, 2019 at 4:48 am #3577292Lab Tests!
How much smoke and soot?
It does look very clever.Cheers
Feb 7, 2019 at 4:56 am #3577293Lots of smoke, lots of soot. Better to use canister stoves. See Stovebench thread.
Feb 13, 2019 at 12:26 pm #3578242Dan,
In my opinion, long-term evolution of the sliding lidded Esbit tray might diverge into at least 3 variations: 1. Optimized for the 4 gm tabs; 2. Optimized for both tab sizes; and 3. Optimized for the 14 gm tabs.
2. Maybe then renamed the Esbitoptimiser?
Small holes on both long sides near each end to take wire stubs, so can be hung level in use.
Apr 29, 2019 at 12:12 am #3590765esbit insert tray for Trangia 25 kits. 14 gram cube boils 500ml in 5.5 min.
