I have an STP coupon that takes the Haglofs Gram Comp Pull to $199 total. This is a highly regarded shell, right?

I'm wondering if I should pull the trigger on this as its lighter than my current rain jacket. Insight is always appreciated

Edit – Thanks Greg, you're right. Looking for opinions/thoughts on the Pull not Pro.

Title corrected at Kelly's request.

I have the older Haglofs Ozo pullover (Gore Tex Packlite) that evolved into the Gram Comp Pullover and I love it. I am not sure if the hood is the same but the Hood on the Ozo is fantastic. The thumbhole sleeves are nice too. I am not sure about the fit on the Gram Comp Pro but the Ozo isn't all that small. Mine fits looser than a lot of lightweight shells and has a nice long drop tail. I really like the fit and that is what sets it apart to me from the OR Zealot that I also have.

If I could get it for $199, I might buy one myself!

The colors are bright though.

I've had both the Ozo and now the Comp pull. I have not had the opportunity to use the comp in any prolonged rain yet (up to two hours at a time) so I can't say how it stands in that regard.
improvements over the Ozo other than the membrane is mainly the front zipper which now is covered from two sides by fabric. This way the zipper is not exposed to water running down, like the naked 'waterproof' zipper of the Ozo which resulted in a thin line as an contiuing zipper made of water on my stomach.

I'm 183 cm (6 feet) and a large is good on me. you can raise your arms without any problems. Arms are long and a little bit of droptail makes it ok for cycling aswell.
No thumbloops but the hood is absolutely perfect. Same fit as the ozo.
Facefabric is quite thin but I actually do like the colour. It IS easier with a jacket instead of a pull on though even though the zipper on the comp is quite deep.

Thanks for the responses.

Bradford,

I actually saw you mentioning the jacket in another thread and that is what prompted me to check STP. :)

Johan,

Do you have the Comp Pull I or II? I was reading Dave C's blog earlier and he mentions the Comp Pull II. I'm wondering what's the difference between the two models?

I didn't know there were two, so my calculated guess it's a nr1. I have the bright greenyellowish one, not stealth at all but quite pleasant nontheless. Looking at their page it seems like they've updated the colours (blue and dark green). the actual design seems to be identical. May be updates to the facefabric too, I don't know.
It's a nice jacket for those who can live without features.

For a rain shell I don't mind so much a bright colour. The red one especially might stand out nice in case of emergency.
As an aside – I thought these used to have pit zips?

Johan – Are your Ozo and Comp the same size? How does the fit compare? I ask because I got a pretty good STP coupon too and while my sensable side is telling me not to do it, I have a little devil saying why not?

Bradford: I would say so yes. I don't have both jackets to compare side by side since I returned the ozo for leaking zipper (and recieved a comp pull in return). They are both the same size (L) and fit the same on me. The arms mght be a little bit shorter on the comp since there are no thumbholes but otherwise pretty similar.

Sizing is always tricky, sometimes companies change their sizing. However, I have a Haglofs Oz XLarge(predecessor of Ozo)and a Gram Comp Pull size Large and just tried them on. I am a slim 190 cm (about six four)and they both fit me. The Gram Comp Pull is a bit on the tight side, but then the cut on both smocks is fairly slim. The reason for both working is probably that they have very generous sleeve lenghts, which seems typical for Haglofs. I have their windshirt Gram Shield which is the best-fitting windshirt with the best hood I have ever owned, also with long sleeves.

Both the Oz and the Gram Comp have worked well for me. The Gram Comp was a pre-production sample and had a faulty chest pocket that came unglued. The Oz is probably my all-time favorite rain shell but a bit to worn these days. In fact I used it the first time on the BPL Trekker III course in 2007, it can still be seen on a photo (green to the left) where Don Wilson, Mike Clelland and myself are huddled over a map in the biting Beartooth wind.
