We recommend the Lunar Solo to backpackers looking for a lightweight, economical, single-wall shelter. It’s one of the least expensive solo tent options on the US market in this weight range. While you could certainly spend 1.5-2.0 times as much on higher quality and lighter shelters, if you are looking to build up your lightweight kit from scratch, the Lunar Solo may be a better initial investment. However, if you’re looking for moderate inclement weather performance, there are better designs out there that are less flappy in wind and have a higher manufacturing quality (but you’ll pay more, of course).
