Back in the day when the Solplex first came out was it offered with a mess floor option ?

No, I had a gen 1 Solplex w/ a solid floor. It was a departure from the Hexamid in that sense. Although back then Zpacks (Joe and company) were much more flexible, i.e., doing custom work.
My Hex plus solo had a mesh floor. I’d rather have the solid floor. When the mesh got wet it became pretty heavy. Other than that it worked surprisingly well.
