Anyone looking for a higher volume pack for longer trips that’s adjustable, comfortable and customizable, look no further. It’s not the most affordable option out there but in this rare instance you get what you pay for.

I purchased this pack for a JMT thru-hike because it ticks off all the boxes for me. Volume to weight, comfortable suspension, Easy load and unload, exterior pockets, materials and craftsmanship.

The Flexed Arc frame had me at hello. The adjustability allows for static or dynamic tuning as needed. The Hip belt is replaceable but in a fixed position. The harness is adjustable to dial in the best fit and wrap with good load lift angles. Foam and mesh on belt and harness are comfortable and don’t rub holes in your clothes or body.

Loading and unloading of main compartment is a cinch with both a roll top closure and a large water resistant zipper opening on the front of the pack. The exterior center pocket is generous in size with a top loading water resistant zipper. Side pockets are also generous with elastic cuff and capable of holding multiple items or used as dedicated water bottle pockets. With a little proactice bottles can be accessed without being a contortionist.

NOTE: Larger size bear canisters wil NOT fit in main compartment of this pack horizontally. However you can make your own straps to hold a can on top of the pack. There are three 1/2″ ladder locks sewn to top of frame as anchors and an extension strap for roll top buckles can be fashioned for added stability. Check out the Materials/Hardware section on the website for ala carte items to make your own straps or cusomize other parts of your pac.

Pack fabrics, hardware and other materials are well thought out and executed. Anchor points are bomber and reliable. Continuous side compression is easy to use and works well to stabilize loads. Interior compression starps also lend stability to loads in main compartment while reducing stress on main compartment zipper. Roll top has thin strips of velcro for even closure and tight rolls.

Accessories for this pack are abundant and well thoguht out. I like the hip belt pouch X2 for easy access to items while on the move. I also purchased Aqua Clip Bottle Holders, which hold a standard water bottle on either your belt or harness, or both if need be. There’s something for everyone here.

In summary, I would rate this pack at the top of its class. Yes, it’s expensive and the ala carte accessories and materials add to it but at the end of the day, you get what you want and you get what you paid for. Which for me is a customized pack in both fit and features. Only wish I had started with this pack, would have saved a lot of trouble and returns…

Tada for now,

DS
