Zipper company upgrading the zipper after 100 years

hmmm… I’m skeptical
36 inch #5 toothed zipper weighs about 0.9 ounces. Maybe you could save 0.5 ounces by omitting tape?
You might have to reinforce the fabric you’re sewing the zipper teeth to to make it strong enough which would add back some weight.
I don’t see how this would have fewer snags.
The TV announcer guy picked up the jacket and said that he could feel that it was lighter. No. He could not feel a 0.5 ounce reduction in weight
The zipper costs 4 times as much and you need a special machine to sew it.
Would make more sense as a marketing thing – “my jacket has this cool new zipper without tape”
uh oh, am I being this old guy complaining about dogs pooping on their lawn? : )
