Zero or low-drop shoes

I’ve been an INOV-8 fan for a while now having had three different models. Looking to replace an older model that I used for hiking. The trails near me are wet, rocky, with tree roots. That combination is slippery.

I like the zero drop of the X-Talon 212 but prefer a little more cushioning like the Roclite 305 (8mm drop). In the INOV-8 line, I can’t find a shoe that combines the two.

Altra Lone Peak 3.5 and King MT both are zero drop and have lugs on the bottom which I love about the INOV-8s. Any other shoe that has both 4-8mm lugs and zero drop?

The Inov-8 Roclie 295’s are very impressive, IMO.  They fit tighter than the old 315’s, but much roomier than the 212’s.  The Lone Peaks swallow my foot and are no good at all for off camber walking.

The Merrell Trail Glove 3’s are pretty good.  Very minimal, but with a rock plate to prevent stone bruising.  Long days would be a chore in them though.

The La Sportiva Anakonda was a fantastic low drop shoe, unlike anything else they made.  Hate they discontinued it.

I’m a big inov-8 fan myself and would probably be interested in a similar shoe to what you’re after.

I use f-lite 195 and x-talon 190 extensively and haven’t come across any other brands that compare with the inov-8 sticky rubber soles for grip, especially in wet conditions on rock. Even the stickiest running shoes available from la sportiva were surprisingly inferior in my experience. I haven’t tried  any of the newer Salomons with Wet Contragrip yet.  I also haven’t been happy with the mixed compound soles from inov-8 (tri-C?)

thought i’d share that experience since you’re starting from what I think is one of the best shoes ever made for the conditions you describe.  Might be hard to find a good replacement
