Does anyone know of an accordion style closed cell pad that has wider panels so 72″ would take up less folded space? The way I strap it to my pack I typically fold it in half so it is strapped like two half length pads, but I would prefer wider sections so you aren’t stressing the middle point. Thanks for your help
The Camp Quest folding ccf mat at Dick’s has 12 sections 5.92″ wide each (71″ long) whereas the Z-Lite or Exped Flexmat has 14 sections 5″ wide each (same length). Camp Quest is also a tad wider unfolded (22 1/2″). Thickness unfolded is just a hair thinner and weight is about the same as Z-Lite or Flexmat.
Description says folded width is 5.75″ but that’s not accurate, it’s 5.92″. Folded height is 4″ compared to 5 1/2″ for Z- Lite. Can be found at most Dick’s Sporting Goods locations so you could avoid the exorbitant shipping costs on bulky foam pads if there happens to be a Dick’s store near you.
