Is that what Maclure looks like?! I’ve only been last year mid August and it was still covered in snow and ice. Great pics! I’m heading to the northern part of the park in two weeks. How was Reymann lake and pass? I’ve been eying to put that on a route too.

wonderful images. I’d love a written report! This is one of my sweet spots,  over  many decades of my life, topography wise. I’ve never accomplished your precise route, but I’ve been in and amongst this landscape many times.

for others, a map of your route and the whole area might be nice.

I tend to prefer the mixed high country of the Sierra in this area to higher moonscapes further south. Wandering in and out of forests into altitude, and back again, with meadows and flowers and constant streams and animal life lower down, is my preferred way to hike. and recall, these pictures capture 9,000 to 12,000 elevations! So, it’s all relative.

Thanks, all.

Charlie, That’s Maclure Creek, not the lake. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was still snow on/near the lake, but we didn’t get to see it. We dropped down from the pass rather than traverse over to the lake and never went back up to check it out. As for Reymann, great fishing! Not this time, thankfully, but I’ve experienced heavy mosquito pressure on prior trips up there. The pass is short and pretty straight forward. We stayed to the right, up the boulder & talus hop, till a ramp up at the tippy top took us left, to keep out of the manzanita and trees.

jscott, I’ll try to post up a report. Work and family obligations have me stretched thin at the moment, but I’ll see what I can do. Agreed on your sentiments of the mixed high country.
