Can 2 people sleep side by side (head to head) or is it really better to sleep head to toe? Using wide neo air pad (mummy shape) and a womens shape? Other then the door configurations, i am thinking it would not really matter that much..

I think that’s pretty spot on. I have the 1P and the inner has a rectangular floor it’s just angled within the canopy….I believe the two person is the same just scaled to a larger size.
My two teenage boys use the x-mid. The sleeping space is trapezoidal so ideally, they would sleep head to toe giving them storage space at their head. The reality is that they would kick each other in the face if they did, so head to head it is… 🤦♂️

Have a Xmid 2p me and the mrs sleep in it heads at the same end. I use a wide mat she has a regular. No issues.
