I did the Wilson-Dixon version of the Wind River High Route September 9th through September 15th 2018 and thought I would share a few pictures. We had good weather and a great trip overall. We camped at Peak Lake on night one, Upper Indian Basin on night two, No-Name Lake (10239) on night three, Europe Canyon near Lake 10542 on night four, Bonneville Basin on night five, and Texas Lake on night six.

Sep 22, 2018 at 4:41 pm #3556869Thanks for sharing your photos Brad – looks like you had some stellar weather in great country.
Sep 22, 2018 at 6:33 pm #3556877Great stuff, and great weather! Thanks for sharing. What kind of shelter is (I assume) your hiking buddy using? Not the mid, which I assume is yours.
Sep 22, 2018 at 6:45 pm #3556882I was using my trusty Duomid. Gary was using a Gossamer Gear “The One”.
Sep 22, 2018 at 11:55 pm #3556914Nice pictures. Many look familiar and bring back good memories. thanks.
Sep 23, 2018 at 1:00 am #3556920Nice work, and great pics! I was also up there in that exact period doing a long planned off trail loop out of Dubois.
And yes, it was windy!
I think the weather turned sour right after we both got out?
Sep 23, 2018 at 5:13 pm #3556981Beautiful pics, Brad!
Thank you for sharing.
Do hope I can get out there one day.
Sep 23, 2018 at 5:53 pm #3556989Looks like it was great trip with perfect weather, thanks!
Sep 23, 2018 at 7:45 pm #3557001@roamer – I saw your Trip Report and it looked epic. Other than the wind, we couldn’t have asked for better weather.
Sep 23, 2018 at 10:34 pm #3557026Thanks!
How do you like the WRHR, compared to other ranges and their offerings? When we did it I thought it was really high quality, with outstanding scenery and variation to the challenges – and then taking in nearly the full length of the Winds.
Sep 23, 2018 at 11:09 pm #3557028I really like Wind River Range, and loved the High Route. I have done 3 other off trail routes in the winds in the past and enjoyed them all. The Winds are probably my favorite range, but I really like the Sierra’s too, but permitting makes them more of a pain, and generally I see more people. I have done a few trips in Alaska, which are amazing just on another level- everything is so wild and remote, and I have done some Colorado trips and a trip in New Mexico, and prefer the Winds.
