Let’s say you are comfortable in a WM Apache (claimed 3” single layer loft and 15F rating). Given that, what degree / loft EE quilt would you get if you were to substitute the WM bag with an EE quilt?

20F EE has 2,5” claimed loft

10F EE has 3” claimed loft

0F EE has 3,5” claimed loft

-10F EE has 4” claimed loft

I know there are many factors and sleep systems are highly individual but please try to ignore that and just focus on the fact that I own the Apache and want to try a quilt when all other factors are unchanged.

Sorry for any language mistakes. I am not a native english speaker.

I would just go with the same amount of loft (3″) since you already know your body comfort levels in relation to that. Seems the most practical and sure fire way.

On a side note, I’ve found adding a highly wind resistant UL layer of fabric to the bottom of a quilt, as a “sleeve” to get in, can make a quilt more comfortable for more extreme cold temps, without the hassle of getting all the straps etc just right and keeping it just right.

Btw, I have an EE Down quilt.  Really nice piece of equipment at reasonable price.
