Are there any decent windshirts with multiple pockets? I need somewhere to put my fidgety hands.
Dec 15, 2017 at 12:20 am #3507574You might go browsing on ebay for something and get a few more ideas from the Faux-dini thread.
Dec 15, 2017 at 2:14 am #3507589Rab Windveil.
Dec 15, 2017 at 2:57 am #3507597There aren’t a ton of options, Windveil as Dave C mentions as well as the similar Cirrus, the feathered friends Jackorack, and Montbell has 2 or three.
Dec 15, 2017 at 3:33 pm #3507639It’s easy to add pockets yourself
Dec 16, 2017 at 1:32 am #3507725No sorry, I own three of the Fauxs and no pockets.
Dec 16, 2017 at 1:47 am #3507727Flat pockets are an ultra easy add-on
Dec 16, 2017 at 2:54 am #3507732<p style=”text-align: left;”>Thanks all. I’ll look into the Rab and Montbell stuff.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>I want this to look OK for daily use and I haven’t sewn much more than a button, so I’d prefer the pockets come with the coat.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>I do have “Jack Wolfskin” fauxdini (no pockets on mine either) for backpacking….could be an interesting starter project.

Dec 16, 2017 at 6:14 am #3507752Thing is most windshirts don’t come with pockets and most shell parkas do. Perhaps you would find it easier to find an UL shell parka?
Dec 16, 2017 at 6:50 am #3507753The Feathered Friends Epic Jackorak was the best all-around shell jacket I’ve ever used. Huge pit zips, nice pockets, great hood, long hem, terrific wind shirt fabric (Nextec Epic). “Heavy” at 8 oz or so but my goodness, that was one of the few jackets I actually wore out. The nearly-perfect mountain shell.
The Rab Windveil is a mighty good substitute, and lighter. But hard. to. find.

Dec 16, 2017 at 5:22 pm #3507833+1 on the epic Jackorak. That was an amazing piece of kit and one of my very favorite shells. Haven’t tried the new pertex endurance Jackorack but it is on sale from time to time for $79 iirc. Almost pulled the trigger a couple of times but I have a couple Houdinis from 2011, one with lots of life left and one brand new.
Dec 16, 2017 at 7:19 pm #3507844Unfortunately Feathered Friends no longer makes the Jackorack. ‘Twas a great windshirt, I used to have one.
Dec 17, 2017 at 6:10 pm #3507972I’ve had one of these for 2 yrs and wear it several times per week, stands up to bushwhacking and the usual trail-abrasion.

Also, the female version has stiffened visor while men’s version has simple gathered sack face opening. I wonder why? The brim/visor would seem especially useful in a windshirt with high water-resistance.
