    After studying a map I realize now that my loop route as noted above is clockwise. A better reason to go counter and head straight to Big Sandy Lake? Are the two passes easier one way or the other? Trail traffic?

    I’ve only done Texas Pass and Jackass Pass from the north so I can’t comment on the opposite direction.

    Jackass Pass is pretty smooth either way.  Going up Texas Pass from inside the Cirque is pretty easy.  Once you get over Texas Pass and leave the cirque, it’s pretty steep.
