I am looking for some more obscure off trail areas in the WWR. There is a large area the Forest Service has officially not maintained for decades and only one trail on some topo’s. it is basically the area you view from Photographers Point just a few miles from the Elkhart TH. The area is about 25 Sq miles bound by Pine Creek and Freemont creek in huge valleys. Anyone been there? is there a reason it has been “abandoned” and i can find no one that has ever been there. It doesn’t look “sexy” like the high route or other now popular published treks, but that is what i am looking for.
