They also do closed footbox quilts in the hammock section.
And do custom work if required.
A couple of years ago, I bought one of the Costco down throws, which I converted to a quilt. Then a bit later a guy on BPL was selling a swatch of Pertex Quantum, which almost exactly fit over the top and sides of the quilt. I enlisted a lady friend with a sewing machine to sew that onto the top of my quilt, mainly to sort of waterproof things during a mild drizzle, and to perhaps to add a wee bit of warmth to the quilt. This worked out quite well, and it was warm enough to get me through a +40* night. It was a great result for maybe a $60 cost outlay. “MYOG ‘R Us!”
I actually have 4 costco quilts. Two black ones I have seam ripped to give lateral baffles. Those two I am going to make a quilt out of with a neck hole. The other two are silver/gray and as stock.
They are selling longer quilts on Amazon now. The material is pretty nice and they are longer than the costco quilts.
I bought one, and it was so nice I bought another both to use around the house. A bit short for me to use gathered end, as I am 6′-2″
That said, my Katabatic quilt is the most comfortable against the skin fabric I have used as far as quilts and sleeping bags. Very comfortable. And I would like the same only 40-45df. That’s why I asked.
Troy, I agree that the Costco quilts are a bit too short. I have a blue one, and I bought a second one that I scavenged a 6″ section from. I gave the rest of the quilt to my lady friend to use as a lap throw (as a way of thanking her for her sewing skills). Now the longer blue quilt is perfect, but it doesn’t have the advantage of the Pertex Quantum cover.
I found it curious that Katabatic discontinued the 40 degree Chisos quilt. That has been my 3 season go to quilt for the past several years.
I have a 30df quilt, but would like a 40df quilt. That said, the 30df breaths so well, maybe that’s why they stopped the 40df. But it makes less sense to me why they sell 3 quilts with ratings so close. Right now they sell, 30df, 22df, 15df.
Seems like it would make more sense to sell a 45df, 30df, 15df or a 40, 25, 10 etc.
