Once many years ago I  put a counter balance bag that still had rocks in it into my pack and carried it out to my car. The pack wasn’t a Nero though.

Carry on.

Well I guess Not to may Nero’s out there to give us a review.. Here’s mine.. The fit is the Best of all my Frameless packs I have owned..No Wow factor if you have owned a Arc Blast..just take out the frame and a few ounces and your there..Now about the Roll top closure system..It Stinks..But can be modified and It’s the Best..I got the factory Line- locks and cut them off and added the clip or buckle line lock closures that Zpacks sells and swap them out and it is awesome..The pad on the back I switched out with a cut down z seat and then switched back to the factory pad. I did change out the shock cord with Gossamer gear cord and cord locks and wrenched it down and it actually made a Arc..Overall I think if Zpacks will change out the cord locks,( which they will in time) you will have a Great pack.. (Would post picks but don’t know how..) Anyone else got some feedback go ahead and bring it on.. Happy Trails.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I’m still looking for my ideal frameless pack and haven’t found it. I have hesitated on the Nero because of the closure. I’d be interested in seeing photos of the changes you have made.

Jerry. Which “buckle lineloc closures” do you mean?

The factory pad is almost pointless. A gossamergear sit pad is fed far better.

I changed out the sit pad right away with a z seat then change back, was alot more comfortable and the divets do nothing for air flow for me..

Found them and ordered some. Thanks Jerry + Matthew.

I tried a couple of z-rest sections too. The gg sit pad, perhaps because it is used in their bags, just offered some better rigidity for me.

Call Joe..He will send you the ribbons and Buckle ..I told him mine was twisting up and knots were keeping the cord from pulling thru the line locks..

Here is a photo Jerry sent showing how he’s rigged his pack

This makes much more sense to me than the stock setup.

Jerry – probably should have tried that before ordering.

I assume you had to cut off the old loops and sew new ones in?

Those Lineloc buckles are how the ZB Quickstep is set up and I love it. Mine have never twisted and I crank them down pretty darn snug.

They want twist because they are a 2 pcs setup. The ones Zpacks use are a 1 pcs and the cord twist and knot up when you roll the bag down to cinch it close.

Zpacks originally used one piece linelocs on the Nero but now makes the pack using the 2 piece lineloc buckles to prevent twisting.

I have a Nero and also made a couple mods tom meet my needs.  I added a strap over the top for my Zlite CCF pad and a ice axe loop.
