I’d like to draw some permanent white lines on black carbon fiber tubing and aluminum tubing.

Any experience with something that works well?

I’ve used Wite-Out and Elmer’s Painters Opaque Paint Markers to mark metal; no experience with carbon fiber.

I have used the silver colour Sharpie markers. They come in a pack of 3, 2 silver and a gold.

“I have used the silver colour Sharpie markers.”

I too have used the silver Sharpie to mark my GG LT4s.  For me, it lasts about 2 years before it gets to faint to see.

My local art supply store and local hardware store sell paint pens similar to the silver markers mentioned above.  They have white in addition to other colors.  We used these as well as the silver and gold ones to mark composites for testing, they mark well.  Durability was not an issue but Greg’s comments above should  address that for you.  Decide what color you want then find the appropriate paint pen!

Industrial suppliers sell paint markers that might fit the bill.  I have used these quite a bit on steel and wood and they’ve worked well.  I’ve never tried them on carbon fiber, though, and I’m not sure if I’ve ever used them on aluminum.  Aluminum can be tricky to paint, it tends to chip off easily.
