Hello,

I just got a pair of the Mountain Hardware Canyon series shorts. They come with an attached belt that is very thin and a nice thin plastic buckle. Ideal if you don’t want too much bulge in front. Anyone have a good suggestion for a similar belt or the same perhaps?

Thanks!

Do you sew? Belts are quite possibly the easiest thing there is to make for backpacking. I copied the Railriders belt design with the center release buckle and 1″ webbing. I use Bluewater climbing webbing with these buckles:

I do have a leather sewing machine – probably just a box stitch to keep it together?

Where’d you get your webbing?

Thanks!

I bought it off Amazon. It’s a little heavier than standard nylon webbing but it’s so much softer and more durable. And yes, I just box stitched it on the fixed end of the buckle. 30ft of webbing will give you enough to make belts for the next 10 years or for your hiking friends, mine are enjoying theirs. :)

I was going to suggest Railriders belt which is pretty much ideal. Hoosier’s buckle looks spot on. Get some soft webbing and you are set.
