Nobody seems to make hooded vests in men’s sizes. I would like to see a hooded alpha vest or a hooded fleece vest… but nothing seems to exist.

Where are all the hooded vests at?

Nunatak makes down vests with and without hood, as well as a hooded vest with hand warmer pockets.
See http://nunatakusa.com/site07/garments/skaha_plus_vest.htm
I always found it inconvenient when more than one or two of my layering items have hoods. I always want a hood on a shell, often want a shell on insulation, sometimes want a hood on a baselayer, and almost never want hoods on vests.
When I wear an insulated vest, I like to think of it as a booster for a hooded jacket that goes over it, whether that be a shell in warm seasons or a thick down jacket in the winter.
I wonder, would a down hood work?
right now you can pick up hooded Strata jackets cheaper than their vests (hoodless), Dave C simply took off the sleeves on one of his Rab syn hooded jackets- I’ve been thinking about doing the same
I think something like that would make a good insulating layer combined w/ a 100 wt fleece
I believe they are still trying to figure out the details for how to integrate thumbholes on a garment with no sleeves. Once they figure that out, hoods will likely be added to help round out the “technical look.”
