Can anyone please advise me of about when Spring sales of telemark and backcountry ski gear typically start in Tokyo? I’m planning a shopping trip there for that purpose, and would appreciate any advice.
Also, just where to purchase said gear? I am aware of Tactskilab and Tamakisports – can anyone advise me of other key suppliers of such telemark and backcountry ski gear in Tokyo? Or perhaps in Osaka?
And, does anyone know of Intuition liner suppliers and fitters in Tokyo?
Many thanks in advance!
Dec 22, 2015 at 6:39 am #3371758If you’re willing to gamble on a proper fit, you could always stay in Korea and just have boots shipped to you from Europe. Â Telemark Pyrenees has many boots available and shipping to Korea looks like it runs 50 Euros. Â Of course you would have to be pretty comfortable in knowing your Mondo sizing within a certain brand (Scarpa vs. Crispi etc.).

In Tokyo, you want to go to the sporting goods district centred around Jimbocho subway station on Yaskuni Dori and the backstreets. Clearance sales typically start in March but there are good deals to be found anytime on ski kit. It may hard to find your sizes though if you are above average height and weight.
Dec 22, 2015 at 11:47 am #3371816I have a friend who winters in Japan for the skiing. I don’t have an email, but his name is Bill Glude and he is on Facebook – you could PM him there.
