I bought this RavPower dual usb charger. Both ports are 2.4A. It charges very quickly but it’s pretty heavy at 3 oz. It seems well made but is a generic one they sell through Amazon under different names for $8-10. The Apple usb charger weighs 0.7 oz so I could just carry 2 of those for half the weight. They don’t charge as fast and you need 2 outlets but still less than half the weight.

What dual usb charger do you use? Is it lighter than 3 oz or is that the norm?

Figure out what amp you require. If both 2.1 for fast charge or ipad size devices, then you might do a little better in weight, maybe closer to 2 oz. As you know a dual usb wall charger can be 1 amp for both, 1 amp and 2.1 amp, and 2.1 amp for both. The higher the amperage the higher the weight for the most part.

I don’t have one but saw some at Walmart ; ).

The wirecutter article mentioned the aukey charger which weighs 33 grams.

John,

do you have a link for the Aukey you’re talking about? The 2 mentioned in the wirecutter article don’t fit the description. One is very large and the smaller one is a car charger style and weighs 1.52 oz.

i do like the golightandfast one.

Rex, I like that ANKER charger and its “smart” software for getting the correct USB amperage.

I’m guessing he means this Aukey. The weight listed on amazon is 1.8oz but i’ve seen it listed at .05lb which should be under an ounce. Idk, for 8 bucks one of us should just find out.

I have been looking for something similar and thats the best i had come up with, as well. I might hold out for something amazing. Electronics are just getting bigger and “better”…..i find that annoying.

Oh i just noticed that its 2.4A for BOTH outlets. So if you plug in two devices it splits the power.

Don, I bought the one Stefan is linking to http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q873I3K

It weighs 33 grams on my scale. And it is as he says, 2.4 amps (12 watts) split between the two ports IF both are used. It is 2.4 on a single port if just one is used. If you wanted 2.4 per port always, then the larger iclever is one to consider as per the wirecutter article.

A bunch of great options. That iclever and one of the Aukey USB adapters are the exact same one as the RavPower one I have. Just re-labeled. Great USB charger but I’m going to keep it at home.

The smaller Aukey looks to be the same as the gofastandlight.com one just a little more refined looking. I think I’m going with one of these.
