I carry me…and I am a piece of ( great;) work…

I often bring one of the hats I made, gloves, sometimes socks, vest etc. Mostly clothes. I also modify almost all my gear and that could count??

Agreed, great thread.

By the way, Kat, I searched “kat hats” on BPL, and came up with a thread that had photos of your hats. Nice work yourself!  They were all dated from 2011-2013, though, maybe you need to put a couple new ones up.

Hi Diane,

those we all quick ones I made for sale. I made many more intricate ones that I could not charge enough to sell…

here is one I like :)

Here is something else I made…for me. Not taking it backpacking, but I have used it in my hammock on the porch a few nights.

Now you’re talking, Kat!  Nice use of mosaic blocks, I really like the color patterning.

Thanks Diane. Those are “mitered” squares with added on edge.

oops. yes, that’s what I meant to say.  the other M technique.  Usually the mitered squares are rather garish, I like how you have blended the colors with the background. I find that the two-color squares are often too much contrast for me.  I have seen it used to good effect with subtle tones that evoke fish scales or peacock feathers.  But then again, I’m not a big fan of real “Crazy quilt” quilting either.  Too much color everywhere.

Oh, my, that’s fantastic!  I’ve lost the patience for large works like that.  Even though I got my start knitting sweaters, I haven’t been able to finish a sweater for years.  Hats, socks, gloves, and cowls have been my go-to meditation knitting.

One more–a lovely old juniper on the PCT near Noble lake.  If you can’t see the photo, you can see it here:

And these are my ‘hiking boots’ that I make.  Yes, they are dirty!  I just finished a long dirty run.

And one more – CF Frame with pack and CF Uke, yes, make it all.  I’ll be at the Bay Area GGG
