I don’t see any Wm kit on ems.

I would love to get a Wm bag for 20 percent off but I’m on seeing any western mountaineering bags at ems.com?

Either I got the last one .. Or, they realized with my order, that WMs should be excluded.. Cuz, you r right, WM doesn’t even show up on their site, now..

That could get EMS in hot water with WM. It’s against the terms to advertise or show pricing below MSRP. Looks like a flag went up after your transaction and they pulled the deal before anyone else could jump on it.

I called ems to see where the bags were… And they said they stopped carrying the western mountaineering brand several years ago. I said that didn’t sound right and they called the retail store and Confirmed it. That’s awesome that you got a bag from them though.

That will be quite some feat, purchasing a bag from a company that stopped carrying them several years ago :)

I got an Alpinlite for 20% off from Prolitegear a few years ago. If WM found out they might have axed them because when I called about the bag, Prolite didn’t mention any exclusions. Since they’re out of business now I can tell the story.

Every once in awhile other retailers will let their 20% off promos apply to WM bags (even though they’re supposed to be excluded). I’ve tried on numerous occasions just to see if it’ll work, and sometimes their sites will let me go right down to the final steps of ordering. I think they look the other way and let a few WM bags slip through the cracks every so often. As long as nobody talks about it everything is cool. If WM catches them, the retailers will just say “oh, must have been a programming error. Sorry”.

The way I heard it, a retailer can sell an item at any price they wish, but they cannot advertise it publicly. Independent stores may be more likely to do this than chains in one-off sales. E-tailers get the most scrutiny from the likes of WM.

Congrats @mrmuddy and nicely done. A few years back I stumbled on a deal for a Megalite (25% off at an independent store), but I later regretted it because it was a right zip. Still, I was able to recoup my costs and put it toward a left zip Alpinlite.
