I am looking for a couple of pairs of waterproof rain pants for myself and my partner and was wondering what the general consensus is on the lightest best option.  This really for a two week walk in the UK and will probably not get a lot of use locally, so we can cope with reduced durability.

My shortlist for me at least and will probably get the women’s equivalent for Anne is based on what Ultra Light Outdoors in the UK offer is:

Inov8 AT/C Ultrapants coming in at 88 grams. Pretty basic, no features other than lightweight;

Montane 2017 Minimus pants at 146g. I have their wind jacket and pretty impressed with it;

Outdoor Research Helium Waterproof Overtrousers at 148 grams.

Also check out the 96g Houdini pant from Patagonia.  I just got the Houdini jacket and was impressed with the new DWR coating using it in a minor sleet storm.  I doubt it would stay so water resistant for the long haul but will be a valuable piece of gear and half the weight of my previously superlight shell.

I had Marmot Essence pants (~180g) for riding for a few years that worked well in short stints of really bad weather.  Any one of your choices should work well for your trip.  Just make sure the leg wont get caught in the chainring or you could crop them into knickers to guarantee they wont.

Thanks @jakomait and @feetfirst for the suggestions. Will look into them.

I haven’t use the specific product, but have been impressed with Alpkit items in general: https://www.alpkit.com/products/parallax-mens

I used Versalite pants on several occasions. Pretty impressive piece of gear. Not easily breakable but still very light and “breathable”. No pockets though. Probably that Inov-8 is another thing to try out.
