Hello!

Wondering if anyone has both of these and if so how warm they would say they are paired together? What temp would you be comfortable both when you are hiking and around camp.

Thanks!

I am going to say its about the warmth of a lightweight synthetic puff jacket like the patagonia nano puff. I have not used the R1, but that has been my experience with a 100 weight fleece and a windshirt.

I think Justin is probably right from my brief experience. As your only layers, you’d be warm enough while excercising in very cold weather (20-30 degrees?) and possibly too hot otherwise.

If you’re standing around or doing light chores, without any other torso layers 50 degrees would feel comfortable.

(I do think I run pretty hot)

For hiking I would say between 0 to 20 F. I’ve never used them around camp because I have a down jacket for that.

R1 hoody is way overrated. If you insist, get the pullover instead of the hoody.

I might recommend a 100wt fleece pullover rather than an R1.  I have both and while the R1 gets used a lot around town, it rarely finds its way into the backcountry.

I don’t think there are any hooded, full zip lightweight 100 wt fleeces that are being made right now unfortunately. That would be perfect.
