Anybody have any ideas about using add-on pockets (eg, ZPacks, GG?) with the new Exos packs? Thinking specifically about 58, but if it works on a smaller pack it’ll prolly work on the big warehouse as well, eh?

Thanks!

If you don’t already have an Exos, you may want to consider the Gregory Optic. Similar design, weight (it’s actually about 3 oz light in 58L, medium), volume, and price, but it includes hipbelt pockets. No shoulder belts, though. I think the lumbar design of the Gregory packs is better than Osprey, having tried the current Optic and previous Exos.

(Sorry, I know that doesn’t answer your question, but it’s an option to consider).

Thanks, Jim! I’ll take a look and now the water’s a little muddier but that’s a good thing, eh?

Based on what I’ve seen so far Osprey still looks good because I’ve been happy with them and know they work well<span style=”text-decoration: underline;”> for me;</span> also my five (?) year old Exos 38 has been terrific and a real work horse, and I’m not so sure about Gregory’s durability.

Thanks. I checked his Etsy site and only see two things: stakes bags and some sort of cellphone pocket. I’ve had great luck with both Zpacks and GG shoulder strap pockets and guess (if I get an Exos) I’ll go with one or the other.

I’ve used REI aftermarket side pockets on my UL backpacks for years. REI no longer sells them but a few other companies do.

Also I have a now discontinued Seek Outside “wet rib” pouch & bottle holder. It rides in front, about belly button height, attached to my lower shoulder straps (the webbing part) for stuff I may need on the trail like map, snacks, etc. The left side has a QR buckle so I can more quickly “untruss” myself when removing the pack.
