Richard Nisely presented in 2007 a tread labeled “The best clothing combinations for backpacking or hiking?” (https://backpackinglight.com/forums/topic/9378/#comments). He present a  model/chart for optimal clothing combination for most backpacking or hiking. A question I have that needs answering concerning this model/chart is as follows:

Is a Polarguard Delta Micropuff vest is equivalent to Patagonia Men’s Nano Puff® Vest ?

If  NOT, what are the differences?

Ken,

The Patagonia Nano Puff series uses Primloft Gold which is a different brand and style of synthetic insulation than Polarguard Delta.  PG Delta isn’t sold anymore due to the short lifespan but it was one of the best in its day.

Can I concluded based on my investigation that if a vest is composed of the following materials the clo values are correct?

Primaloft Gold/One: 0.92 clo/oz

Classic 200 Fleece 0.76 clo/oz

Polarguard Delta 0.68 clo/oz

Not sure at all on the clo but I am impressed with the nano puff line. My brother has the zipped hoodie and I have gotten to check it out and talk with him. He wears it as a guide on the water every day and it is certainly warm, light and retains the heat even if wet. Those clo numbers are impressive if true for sure. I am thinking of picking up the bivy pullover and having it hemmed to a hooded vest :)
