ventilation – men only?

trying to find a ventilated shirt for my friend for our hiking this summer and it’s been frustrating. railriders offers great ventilation for men – long mesh panels on the side and the underarm, but nothing equivalent for women. most of the shirts i can find from the other companies – columbia, ex officio seem to offer only tiny mesh panels near the underarm.  she has a solumbra shirt but it’s still pretty hot, and still not as much mesh as the railriders.

anything i’m missing?  is the theory from railriders etc. that women are too fashion conscious to have mesh? does linen work?

Women can wear the the mens shirts too!  :-)  For me what counts is loose fitting enough that air circulates as much as possible under my shirts. My mesh-back Columbia fishing shirts work great – when there is a breeze. Mesh pit’s and sides would be a bonus.

Addendum: not matter what my shirts get wet so the loose fit also helps with drying.I hate clinging wet clothing.

Andrew: Re-check the RailRiders website.

For example: https://www.railriders.com/women-new-eco-mesh-shirt-p-1058.html?cPath=125_133

OR Echo, they have a women’s line but it’s the same fabric.

I love the men’s version of this shirt. Awesome ventilation, wicking and quick dry.  The last step to making it perfect is sending it to Insect Shield for treatment.

Bonus: currently on sale!

When I first read the post I thought it said “Ventilated Skirts” and I said to myself “What a great idea”

I prefer knit shirts like an OR Echo or the lightest Cap.  It breathes so much better.
