So all the freezer bag business is to avoid cooking food in the cooking pot?? Why?

I don’t go to the wilderness to do dishes.

As far as the wallet goes, I use a small zippered Zpacks “wallet” that I picked up from their stand at PCT Kickoff a few years ago. I wear a long-sleeve shirt with a zippered chest pocket, and the wallet lives in there at basically all times when I’m out on a trip (even when sleeping). That way, it’s basically attached to me at all times, and I can always reassure myself that it’s there.

One reason I don’t like to eat inside my pot is I don’t want to have to store my cookpot in my bear canister (or food bag) if I can help it.  Also on some trips, I may share a stove/pot with someone else.

I’m now using a 550ml pot and it won’t fit.

Rehydrate some MH lasagne in your pot and you will find out why you might not want to do that again. MH lasagne is IMO some really yummy stuff, but I am fairly certain that the cheese in their recipe is used to glue on Space Shuttle tiles.

Because they don’t like cleaning the pot.  I prefer to clean the pot (sand, gravel, etc. is all you need) over carrying around a bag of wet food residue, but to each his own.

For drinks, I use an easy mac cup that is plastic with a thin layer of foam around it.

HA! I have literally spent more time scraping MH Lasagne cheese off my spoon with my teeth (!?!) than I spent eating the meal. I agree it tastes mighty good, but stopped packing it long ago because of the sticky mess :)

And yes, I dont want to scrub the pot, I dont want to have to pack it into the bear can, and I don’t want critters attracted to my kitchen bag.

The beauty is that the dampness is fully contained within waterproof zipper bags.

Yep, never had a problem with the used bags.

I use the Russian Doll system with my vacuum seal bags, which is to fold and place the bag from the previous dinner inside the bag from the recent dinner. Eat, repeat.

EXACTLY!  I have no idea why I failed to describe the process so succinctly…a process that shall forever more be known as the “Russian Doll System” (RDS) :)
