Vargo Bot 700 pot with Lid

Perhaps the most versatile titanium pot on the market - more durable than Toaks, screw-top sealable lid can be used for cold-soaking or extra water storage, usable handles, and a lid that can be used for a mug or fry pan in a pinch.

Multi-use is the essence of fast-and-light hiking. The Vargo Bot 700 (and its larger cousins) is an exemplar of this principle.

At 700 mL capacity, it is a good size to hold full dinners for one without spilling. Graduated markings are stamped into the side to help you get your proportions right. At 3.8 in (98mm) wide it sits stably on your stove, and doesn’t let flames curl up the sides. The handles stay reasonably cool so that you don’t need a pot holder, and they fold flush for packing. It holds a small butane canister, a lighter or two and (possibly) a smallish upright stove.

The lid doubles as bowl, although it’s not a very good one, being hard to clean. But it provides the distinguishing feature of the Bot — it screws on the pot body, and with a silicone gasket, provides a durable waterproof seal. This seal lets you use the Bot as an auxiliary bottle for long water carries. You can also use it for cold-soaking your food if you go stoveless (or run out of fuel, as one occasionally does). The seal is durable — I’ve used it on many gritty desert hikes and it still holds.

The Bot also makes a good scoop for still or trickling water. It is tall enough to drink 500 mL of hot coffee without burning your lips. And the lid works nicely for gathering berries.

In short, the Bot is a top choice for your cooking (or stoveless) system.
