Has anyone tried using a Khafra inner with an MLD Supermid? I ask because I have a Supermid already (no inner yet), and would like a tad more room than the MLD inner provides. The LG inner is 21 cm/8 inches wider and longer than the MLD inner.
At maximum occupancy, this would be used by two adults, one teenage (all 5’6″ or under…at least for now), and three small to medium dogs (40, 35, and 12 lbs). We’ve fit the entire crew and gear in a Big Agnes Copper Spur UL 3, so we’re used to cramming in a bit, but we’d never complain about a little extra space for similar cost and weight.
The dimensions (W x L x H) of an MLD Supermid are 275 x 275 x 175 cm. MLD’s inner dimensions are 229 x 229 x 137 cm, leaving 23 cm (9 inches) on each of the four sides, and 38 cm (15 inches) from the top (depending on pitch height).
By comparison, the Locus Gear Khafra dimensions are 280 x 280 x 170cm, and the LG inner dimensions are 250 x 250 x 170 cm. Using the LG ‘mid and inner together, this leaves gaps of 25 cm on each side, and no gap at the top.
If the LG inner was used with the Supermid, the side gaps would be 12.5 cm (5 inches), and the top gap would be 5 cm (2 inches). But it looks like, on the LG inner, the pole does not pass through the top of the inner like it does on the MLD inner, so there would no top gap, and I might be forced to pitch the MLD a bit lower, depending on how much give the inner has.
Has anyone tried using the LG inner with the Supermid? Good idea, or bad idea?
