US national parks must reflect diversity of population to thrive

On a related note, I was cheered earlier tonight looking through my local paper; the “man on the street” column went out and asked random people what was their favorite national park.  Four out of five were non-Caucasian; all 5 said Yosemite, even the two who had never visited it – just because they “like the idea of it.”   This is a smallish, mostly blue-collar suburb.  I liked that they all felt a tie to our nearest national park.
